Pune: International fugitive and gangster Nilesh Ghaywal has been declared a proclaimed absconder by a Pune court in a cheating case involving the fraudulent procurement of SIM cards. The order was issued by Chief Judicial Magistrate K P Jain-Desarada, who noted that despite repeated efforts, police were unable to trace Ghaywal, indicating that he had absconded or was deliberately evading arrest.

Ghaywal, who reportedly fled to the UK, faces over 25 criminal cases, including 10 FIRs registered since September 17, when his associates allegedly opened fire on a man. With the proclamation order in place, police are now empowered to initiate property attachment proceedings if he fails to appear before the court, a senior Pune police officer said.

Authorities have also issued a Look Out Circular (LOC) and secured a Blue Corner Notice from Interpol against him. Police said the Ghaywal gang is linked to multiple serious offences, including murder, attempt to murder, extortion and other organised crime activities.
