Pune: The Dighi police have booked four persons in connection with supplying swords via courier. The policemen seized 97 swords, two kukri (dagger) and nine sheaths from a courier distribution centre based on a tip-off that banned weapons were supplied through courier platforms.

The accused have been identified as Umesh Sood (40), a resident of Amritsar; Anil Hon, a resident of Aurangabad; Maninder, a resident of Khalsa force shop in Amritsar and Akash Patil, a resident of Rahata in Ahmednagar.
According to the police, swords were seized from two wooden boxes in the warehouse of a private courier company in Dighi. Umesh had sent the parcel to Anil Hon from Aurangabad. It was revealed that Maninder of Punjab had transported swords in another box and couriered to Akash.
Senior inspector Dilip Shinde, the investigating officer in the case, said probe is on to find where the weapons were to be used.
