Pune: A 73-year-old man was killed after a speeding motorcycle hit him near Hill Shire Housing Society on Kesnand Road in Wagholi. The incident was reported on Saturday at around 8:55 pm, said police.

The deceased has been identified as Vasantrao Marotrao Magare, 73, a resident of the Wagholi area. According to police, the incident occurred while he was crossing the road near his residence.
The accused, riding a motorcycle, allegedly drove rashly, negligently, and at high speed, ignoring traffic rules. He rammed into the elderly man with force, critically injuring him, and fled the scene. Magare later succumbed to his injuries.
Shadev Hawale, police sub-inspector, said, “Both were returning after watching the Maharashtra Kesari wrestling competition when they met with the accident. As of now, we have detained the accused, and further investigation is ongoing.”
As per the complaint filed by the deceased’s son, an FIR has been filed at Wagholi police station under sections 106(1), 125(a), 125(b), 281, and other relevant sections of the Motor Vehicle Act.
