Pune: Firefighters promptly contained a blaze that erupted at the Dehu Road Ordnance Factory on Monday morning, officials said. According to the Pimpri-Chinchwad fire department, the fire broke out at around 11.30 am at the factory’s testing range, where ammunition trials are routinely conducted. It reportedly spread through dry grass in the area.

Three municipal fire tenders and four from the factory’s fire unit were deployed to contain the blaze. Their coordinated efforts prevented the fire from escalating. Fire officer Sarang Mangrulkar said no one was injured and no infrastructure or equipment was damaged. The cause of the fire is under investigation. The Dehu Road Ordnance Factory is one of the key defence manufacturing establishments in the Pune region and regularly conducts ammunition testing activities within designated safety zones.
