Gold biscuits worth 1.27 crore stolen from shop; worker booked

According to the police, the theft came to light when the owner of Precious Refinery Shop found the metal missing during a routine check

The police have registered a case after 10 gold biscuits weighing one kilogramme were stolen from the locker of a precious metal refinery shop located in Budhwar Peth, one of city’s busiest commercial areas, at around 1.30pm on Thursday.

According to the police, the theft came to light when the owner of Precious Refinery Shop found the metal missing during a routine check. The stolen gold is valued at approximately 1.27 crore.

Based on the complaint filed by the owner of the shop, the police booked Prathamesh Mandale, 18, from Solapur district who was working in the shop and had been missing after the incident was reported.

Arvind Shinde, assistant inspector, Faraskhana Police Station said, “We will nab the suspect soon.”

A case under Sections of 306 (theft committed by a clerk or servant) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita has been filed against the accused.
