Man absconding for 32 years in robbery case arrested in Pune

Police said, in 1993, the accused was involved in a robbery case in which he looted ₹80,000 from a company employee in the MIDC area

Police on Friday arrested a man who had been absconding for 32 years in a robbery case registered in 1993 in Ahilyanagar district.

The accused has been identified as Tanhaji Jalindar Mhaske,53, who originally hails from MES quarters Khadakwasla, Pune, and is currently living at Dhayariwadi, Haveli. He was arrested in a joint action conducted by Pune and Ahilyanagar police. Later, the accused was handed over to the Ahilyanagar police for investigation.

Police said, in 1993, the accused was involved in a robbery case in which he looted 80,000 from a company employee in the MIDC area.

Later, he fled to Pune and was living with his father, who was working as a civil employee in an army department.

The arrest was made on the basis of a pending arrest warrant issued by the Court of the Civil Judge (Senior Division), Court No. 19, Ahmednagar, in RCC Case No. 300124/1993.

Using technical and confidential inputs, the team learned that Mhaske was living in the jurisdiction of Nanded City police station in Pune. Acting swiftly, the team reached the location, detained the suspect, and confirmed his identity during questioning.
