In a daylight burglary, accused stole ornaments worth ₹18 lakh from Tejas Elysian residential complex in Baner on August 20. The Chatuhshrungi police have registered a case.

The 75-year-old complainant stated that their house was broken into when it was empty as family members were out of station to attend a function. The incident happened between 11:30 am and 8 pm.

According to the police, initial investigation shows that the thieves were aware that the house will be unoccupied and locked. Police are collecting CCTV camera footages and have registered a case under Sections 380 (theft in dwelling house), 454 (housebreaking in order to commit offence) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and police sub-inspector Rupesh Chalke is investigating the case.
