On noise pollution, late night birthday celebrations and police patrolling, the CP advised “Dial 112”

Pimpri-Chinchwad police commissioner Vinoy Kumar Choubey took to X (formerly known as Twitter) to answer citizens’ questions about law and order issues and responded with a clever remark about AI-generated first information reports (FIRs).

To the question on whether Pimpri-Chinchwad police stations are designed for long working hours, or do officers rely more on “chai and patience” for survival? the commissioner said, “Nothing beats the good old chai when it comes to enduring long working hours...But happy to see concern about our personnel, a topic not oft-raised.” (HT PHOTO)

In the Virtual Town Hall Meeting 2.0, an online interactive session with CP on Wednesday, a X user posed a question as part of the #VirtualTownhall_2 initiative to the Pimpri-Chinchwad police, “AI can now generate artwork, music, and even poetry. Can we expect AI-generated FIRs next?”

The official handle of the Pimpri-Chinchwad police, known for its engaging and witty responses, didn’t disappoint. Choubey responded with a clever remark and a smile emoji, “Interesting idea. But until AI learns how to listen to both sides of the story and read between the lines, I think our officers still have their jobs intact.”

To the question on whether Pimpri-Chinchwad police stations are designed for long working hours, or do officers rely more on “chai and patience” for survival? the commissioner said, “Nothing beats the good old chai when it comes to enduring long working hours...But happy to see concern about our personnel, a topic not oft-raised.” He said that the office is trying to have more facilities like gym, creche, dedicated women’s room in police stations and in-house central dispensary at the commissionerate for colleagues.

On noise pollution, late night birthday celebrations and police patrolling, the CP advised “Dial 112”. “’Dial 112’ is a single point emergency response number. We have been setting better processes to reduce the average response time consistently,” he said.

When asked about law and order issues due to migrant labours, Choubey replied, “We have issued orders under Section 163 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS), directing all companies, managements, and landlords to ensure police verification of workers and tenants before hiring employees or renting out properties. Awareness programmes are conducted across our jurisdiction to sensitise industries and landlords.”

“Pimpri-Chinchwad police have zero tolerance for corruption of any kind at any level. If anybody has sought money for processing of passport/police clearance certificate, report on 8087705112. Anonymity will be ensured,” he said.

On blur number plates, black tinted glasses of vehicles and other traffic violations, CP said, “We are shortly providing a tech-backed platform for citizens to report traffic violations. Launch date will be shared soon.”

Choubey highlighted that Pimpri-Chinchwad police traffic team continues to conduct sessions for better traffic and civic sense under “One Day For School” initiative and have organised 329 sessions in the last 15 months covering 82,318 students.

On hit-and-run and drink and drive cases, he said, “In 2024, 4,154 drivers were penalised for driving under the influence of alcohol.”

He also interacted with netizens about issues pertaining to safety, use of technology in policing, file pendency, parking, private travel buses, footpath enchantments, e complaint filing, Damini marshalls, juvenile offenders, cybercrime and Mathadi issues.

The police chief thanked citizens for taking part in the interaction. “Let’s continue this spirit of collaboration as we move forward together.’’ Choubey said before signing off.
