PMC explores tunnel link on Sinhagad-Satara route
The proposed tunnel is being examined in view of rising traffic and the inconvenience faced by residents in the Hingne Khurd-Sahakar Nagar corridor
Mayor Manjusha Nagpure on Friday inspected the proposed tunnel through the hills at Hingne-Khorad Vasti that could provide an alternative road link between Sinhagad Road and Satara Road, officials said on Saturday.

According to Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) officials, the proposed tunnel is being examined in view of rising traffic and the inconvenience faced by residents in the Hingne Khurd-Sahakar Nagar corridor. The route could also improve connectivity to Taljai and reduce travel time and distance, the civic administration said.
Nagpure inspected the proposed alignment and sought information from officials on the project’s feasibility, technical requirements and other measures needed for its implementation.
“We need to develop alternative routes to improve connectivity and address traffic congestion while keeping the safety and convenience of citizens in mind,” Nagpure said.
During the inspection, Nagpure also reviewed a proposal to widen the road at Hingne-Khorad Vasti and construct a culvert over a drain. She directed civic officials to take necessary action after considering existing congestion, road safety and the expected increase in traffic in the area.
PMC chief engineer, project department, Dinkar Gojare and corporators Prasanna Jagtap and Jyoti Gosavi, along with other civic officials and staff, were present during the inspection.
