The decision was taken after mayor Manjusha Nagpure directed municipal commissioner Naval Kishore Ram to immediately establish the facilities.

“Many citizens and students from Pune are in war-affected countries. Their relatives here are in a state of panic. PMC must step in to assist them,” the mayor said.

According to civic officials, the helpline will function round-the-clock to collect details of individuals who are stuck abroad. The data bank will include the person’s name, permanent address in Pune, local address abroad, hotel details if applicable, and contact numbers.

The civic body will compile and share the information with the state and central governments to facilitate coordination and extend necessary assistance to those affected.

Officials said families can contact the helpline to register details of their relatives so that timely support can be arranged through government channels.
