Pune MP and Minister Murlidhar Mohol visited the Jain Boarding in Model Colony on Saturday, assuring the Jain community of his support amid the ongoing redevelopment dispute. He promised that a hunger strike would not be necessary and that decisions would be made according to the community’s wishes.

During the visit, some members raised slogans and attempted to gherao him, but Mohol later met with Jain Muni and Dr Kalyan Gangwal, who had threatened a hunger strike from November 1. The Muni objected to handing over the Jain temple as part of the boarding redevelopment project and demanded cancellation of the deal.
“As a Pune MP, I stand with the Jain community. The issue will be resolved according to their wishes,” Mohol said. He added that, despite political controversies involving his name, he came personally to hear and support the community.
Mohol’s assurances indicate that the redevelopment proposal could be cancelled before November 1, aligning with the demands of the Jain community.
