Pune: Shiv Sena leader Ravindra Dhangekar on Sunday attacked senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader and cabinet minister Chandrakant Patil, questioning his moral authority on including criminals in politics in the ongoing civic poll campaign.

Dhangekar shared a photograph on social media showing Patil with alleged gang leader Nilesh Ghaywal, accusing him of double standards. The attack came after Patil said Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) leader Amol Balwadkar was denied a ticket over a viral video allegedly showing him with goons. “If Patil is so sensitive about goondaism, would such activities have flourished in Kothrud?” Dhangekar asked.

Taking a swipe at Patil’s political standing in Pune, Dhangekar said those lecturing others on criminality should first examine their own associations, even suggesting Patil “return to Kolhapur.” The BJP has not responded to the allegations.
