Pratap Sarnaik, transport minister and MSRTC chairman, said, “The decision will significantly increase the use of solar energy across MSRTC establishments, including bus depots, workshops, and administrative offices.”

He noted that the project is expected to reduce conventional electricity expenses by nearly 3 to 4 crore annually, thereby strengthening the corporation’s financial sustainability. He also emphasised ensuring strict adherence to standard design models, technical approvals, and environmental regulations during the implementation phase.

The initiative is seen as a crucial step toward green energy adoption within the public transport sector, with expected positive outcomes in energy conservation, environmental protection, and economic efficiency.
