In a bid to curb cheating practices during the board examinations, the Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education (MSBSHSE) has come up with an initiative, wherein they have asked students, parents and the general public to submit unique ideas to help curb the malpractice. This is the first time that the state board is appealing the public for ideas.
A circular was issued in this regard by the state board secretary Anuradha Oak on January 10. “Every year the state board conducts Class 10 and 12 examinations in nine divisions across the state and every time board has to face to the cheating and copy case practices. To make a uniform action programme against cheating cases, a planned programme is needed and for that board has started the initiative this year. For this board has created a ‘Google Form’, the best 10 innovative ideas which are affordable, with less manpower, and feasible to be implemented across the state in less time will be implemented during this year’s board examinations,” the circular stated.

All the ideas will be scrutinized and revaluated by the senior board officials and the ten best ideas will be awarded and implemented during the Class 10 and 12 board examinations this year. As per the dates given by the board, HSC examination will be held from February 21 to March 20, while the SSC exam will be from March 2 to March 25.
Sharad Gosavi, chairman of the state board said, “Last year we found that 10 minutes before the exams the paper would leak online and go viral on social media, also there were new techniques of cheating. While working in the government sector we might not know the new ways of cheating or how to deal with them, so for the first time we have appealed to teachers, parents and public to send innovative ideas to deal with these cheating or copying malpractices during the board examinations. We will certainly implement the best ideas received which will be practical, feasible,inexpensive and also can be implemented within the existing set up of the board,”

{{/usCountry}}As per the data, in 2022, 242 cheating cases were registered and five dummy students were caught in the state in the annual Class 12 and 10 exams. This number of cheating cases was less as compared to 2020, when 996 cases were registered. While in 2019, 230 cheating cases were registered in SSC and HSC exams .
