A major mishap was averted after a fire broke out at Kidzee Pre-School in Wagholi on Sunday evening because of the swift response of the PMRDA Fire Brigade. The incident occurred at IVY Estate/Orchid Society around 6:18pm. Upon receiving the alert, a team from the Wagholi fire station rushed to the spot and initiated immediate firefighting operations.

The three-story building caught fire on the ground floor. According to officials, the fire started beneath the staircase. A gas cylinder exploded while fire personnel safely removed another, preventing further escalation.
Vijay Mahajan, fire officer at PMRDA, said, “Fortunately, the school was closed because it was Sunday.”
Fire department sources indicate the exact cause of the fire is likely an electrical short circuit, though it is yet to be determined. The fire caused significant damage to the school property.
Two fire tenders from the Pune Municipal Corporation’s Kharadi fire station also assisted in the operation.
