Ticket allotment for Haryana assembly polls: Women Cong leader accuses Selja of bias

Dissidence has been brewing among Congress ranks over the distribution of tickets for the upcoming Haryana assembly polls, but there are some members who have come out in the open to slam the party high command over ‘partiality’ meted out to them.

One such member is Haryana Pradesh Mahila Congress general secretary Anjali Bansal, who on Saturday expressed her displeasure over not being given the party ticket from Panchkula segment and blamed the Haryana Congress president, Kumari Selja, for the same.

Wife of former Panchkula MLA late DK Bansal, Anjali Bansal was vying for a candidature and had been actively pushing her case. Accusing Selja of being partial and exhibiting favouritism, she said, “Selja deliberately denied me a ticket despite all my contribution during the Lok Sabha elections.”

Bansal claimed that she was left out because her name was being associated with former Congress state president Ashok Tanwar as his supporter. “I was just supporting the party state chief whom the high command had appointed,” she said.

Calling Congress’ Panchkula nominee Chander Mohan her elder brother, Bansal said she would vote for the party, but won’t go anywhere seeking votes for the party candidate.

However, despite repeated attempts, comments of Kumari Selja could not be elicited.

Election office inaugurated

Meanwhile, Chander Mohan on Saturday inaugurated the party’s election office in Sector 9 here. He told the party workers that he would be at their disposal 24x7.
