“One of the luckiest things that can happen to you in life is, I think, to have a happy childhood,” author Agatha Christie once said. I agree with her. When I am reminded of my childhood, I think those days were the best days of my life. I did not care about the past or future because I was busy enjoying my present.

But as celebrated author Graham Greene put it aptly, “There is always one moment in childhood when the door opens and lets the future in”. That’s the time when a youth becomes worried about his future and his responsibilities.

And by the time, he reaches old age, he reminisces about the past. The truth of life is that we should never feel that we are free from duties and responsibilities. This is because from the time we learn to walk and speak, we start becoming indebted to so many people around us: Our family, friends and all others who come into our lives.

For parents, we become an object of love, they do everything to keep us happy and secure. They wait to listen to our half-spoken words; those give them unspeakable joy. Then when we start walking, they run after us with food, and at night, put us to bed but not before telling us those lovely fairtytales. In this rhythm of life, we sometimes face the bitter truth when in our old age, we are ignored by own. We feel helpless, and pray to God to end our misery. But why not face this truth with a smiling face. Even at this juncture, we must look at life positively and even try to accomplish new things.
