There had been just about a day’s gap between our last game and the next one against the Rajasthan Royals. The loss to Kings XI Punjab was disappointing, but we are just looking at it as a blip on the radar. It is better to have an off day before the semifinal, than have it on the day of the knockout.
We didn’t have much to discuss after the game ended, but met the day after for a brainstorming session. We discussed the game and assessed how it all went wrong. We couldn’t meet immediately after the game because a couple of the guys had to go for their random dope testing.
Saturday was a very relaxed day for us. Some of us trained in between rain at the main cricket ground, while others hit the gym. Some of the guys even went to see the Super 14 rugby game between the Cheetahs and the Stormers. It was another good time out for the guys.
Yeah, there is another update — AB is still the official guide of the team. He again advised the guys on the places to visit and I believe a couple of them went out and enjoyed themselves.
Overall, Bloemfontein is a quiet town. It is much like a little town in New Zealand. There’s bit of a grass bank outside our hotel, so some of the guys even relax there at times.
With a two-month-old baby with us, we haven’t been able to go out much.
But my family and I have spent time at the mall attached to our hotel. We have been able to sneak out for lunch at the mall.
The mood in the camp is not down despite the last loss.
I guess the loss was a nice wake-up call before the semifinal.
We definitely want to win the remaining games.
We want to end the league stage on a high, so that we can take the confidence into the final stages.
