The Jamaica batsman has been out of the West Indies side since the World Cup. The West Indies Cricket Board (WICB) had sought an explanation for his criticism of the board in a radio interview in April. The WICB CEO will hand over his report to the Board of Directors, which is meeting on Friday (late night India time).

The WICB said in a statement on Friday that the meeting between Gayle and his representatives and its CEO, Ernest Hilaire, Director of Cricket, Anthony Howard, head coach, Ottis Gibson, and team manager, Richie Richardson, ended in uncertainty.

The WICB team outlined to Gayle that the board has had issues historically in communicating with him. Exceptional efforts had been made, especially during his tenure as captain, to establish that relationship.

WICB said Gayle's comments had a detrimental effect on the relationship with the team and the WICB management.
