Cheteshwar Pujara is recognised among the greatest Test batters of his generation. The veteran India batter has experienced contrasting fortunes in his career. While he is one of just 11 players in the history of Indian cricket to have played over 100 Test matches, Pujara has just five ODIs in his career and never made his T20I debut. He has also played just 30 matches in the Indian Premier League with one half century to show and a strike rate of 99.74.

While his international record in limited overs cricket maybe almost non-existent, Pujara has from time to time shown that he has a different gear in his game. He has played over 100 List A games and 71 T20s and on Sunday, he showed his ability against the white ball once again. Playing for Sussex in the One Day Cup, England's domestic 50-over tournament, Pujara scored an unbeaten 106 off 119 balls to almost single-handedly take his side to a score of 240/7. The second-highest score in the Sussex line up was was 29 scored by No.4 James Cole. Pujara hit four fours and two sixes in his innings. His innings, though, was not enough to stop Sussex from falling to a three-wicket loss.

Pujara was not the only Indian player involved in the match. Prithvi Shaw, who is looking for a way back to the Indian team, played for Pujara's opposition and scored 26 off 17 balls. He hit four fours before edging the ball to his own stumps off Bradley Currie.

This was Shaw's second game for Northants. On his debut, he had scored 34 off 35 against Gloucestershire before he lost balance kicked his own stumps while falling to the ground. Shaw had looked to hook Paul van Meekeren's short delivery but he missed the pull and ended up being dismissed hit wicket.
