Cricket Australia's '36 all out' tweet for India days before Border-Gavaskar Trophy creates a storm on social media
Ahead of the blockbuster series, Cricket Australia shared a throwback video of India's previous tour to the country. However, the video irked several Indian fans, which also included former cricketer Aakash Chopra.
India and Australia are all set to renew their rivalry as players of both camps gear up for another exciting edition of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, which gets underway from Thursday in Nagpur. Australia, who once dominated the sport, will hope for a change in fortune this time around. The Kangaroos have not won a Test series on Indian soil back in 2004. India, on the other hand, would look to maintain their dominance having defeated Australia twice in their previous two visits to the country.

Ahead of the blockbuster series, Cricket Australia shared a throwback video of India's previous tour to the country. However, the video irked several Indian fans, which also included former cricketer Aakash Chopra. The video was from the first Test between the two sides in Adelaide, when the hosts had demolished the Indian batting line-up and packed them for 36 in the second innings.
“All out for 36. The Border-Gavaskar Trophy starts on Thursday,” tweeted cricket.com.au.
The fans, however, were quick to remind the outcome of the series as India then defeated the odds and clinched it 2-1. Here are a few reactions:
The series was truly a memorable one from India's perspective as the visitors-led by Ajinkya Rahane then battled a hosts of injuries and pulled out a miraculous victory over a strong Australian unit. Virat Kohli led the unit in the series opener, which India lost by eight wickets.
India then made a sensational turnaround and squared things off in the following encounter and defeated Australia by 8 wickets in the Boxing Day Test played in Melbourne.
India then suffered a few injury blows and lost other key players midway during the series. However, a valiant display by Rishabh Pant and others saw India play a draw in the next encounter in Sydney, before securing a historic three-wicket win at Gabba, a venue where Australia were not defeated for 32 years.
Meanwhile, Australia will also be hoping for a revenge this time around as India will field a much stronger unit in home conditions. Skipper Rohit Sharma, alongwith Virat Kohli will lead India's attack with the bat. R Ashwin, Ravindra Jadeja, and Axar Patel too would be itching to get their arms rolling in home conditions, which has a history of assisting the tweakers.
