CSK vs RCB, IPL 2024 Highlights: Ruturaj Gaikwad has got off to a winning start to his tenure as Chennai Super Kings captain as they beat Royal Challengers Bengaluru by six wickets in the IPL 2024 season opener at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chepauk, Chennai. RCB were dragged to a score of New Chennai Super Kings (CSK) captain Ruturaj Gaikwad and his new opening partner Rachin Ravindra got the home side off to a flying start chasing 174 against Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB). Gaikwad eventually fell to Yash Dayal, who has come in as an Impact Player substitute for Dinesh Karthik, on 15 off as many. However, there was no respite for RCB as Ravindra continued in the same vein while Ajinkya Rahane seemed to have picked up from where he left off last season. CSK smashed 62 runs in the powerplay for the loss of one wicket. Ravindra ended up falling for 37 off 15 balls while Rahane was later dismissed thanks to a stunner of a catch from Glenn Maxwell on 27 off 19. Shivam Dube then joined Daryl Mitchell as CSK's Impact Player, coming in for Mustafizur Rahman, who was the pick of the bowlers for CSK.
Earlier, Mustafizur Rahman enjoyed a dream outing with the ball for CSK, picking up 4 wickets to rock RCB's top order. RCB were motoring along, having reached 41/0 in 4.3 overs before CSK hit back and dented their progress. Mustafizur ran riot, dismissing Faf du Plessis before dismissing Rajat Patidar and Glenn Maxwell for a duck each. Virat Kohli had moved to 21 off 20 before the fizz got him too and added a fourth in the form of Cameron Green to leave RCB reeling at 78/5. However, RCB fought back with Dinesh Karthik and Anuj Rawat putting up 95 runs off 50 balls for the sixth wicket. RCB captain du Plessis had won the toss and chosen to bat first.
