Delhi finish formality, beat Jaipur by 9 wkts

It was just a formality for the Delhi team as they just 13 runs of 34 balls. A boundary was then struck by Dhawan that also brought up the 100 partnership between the pair. The score being 128/1 in 15 overs.
The Delhi batsman were looking to finish of the game as early as possible as Shane Watson was brought back into the attack. Gautam Gamabhir was also looking in great touch as he rotated the strike easily and the score moving. The Delhi team was now finishing the game with some easy singles. The score was 115/1 after 14 overs.
It was just getting too easy for Delhi as the runs just kept coming. The Jaipur team were also feeling the pressure as the bowlers bowled a wide that went for four. The score after 13 overs was 111/1.
Yusuf Pathan continued with his off-spin in the 12th over and the Delhi batsman kept scoring as they reached there 100 at the end of the over. Gautam Gambhir also raced to his fifty as Delhi continued to march on.
It was time to bring on the Master spinner as Shane Warne took the charge himself, but the Dhawan greeted him with a boundary as well and was then lucky to get away with a single after an inside edge. Warne giving away seven runs in his first over as Delhi were 78/1 in nine overs.
Siddharth Trivedi was not supported by the fielders as a sloppy display in the field gave away a needlees boundary to Delhi. But on the other end Kaif showed his fielding skills as he stopped a certain boundary. But on the next ball Dhawan played a handsome straight drive to get the boundary. After eight overs Delhi was 71/1.
Watson continued the attack and was tryng his level best to keep the Delhi batsman quiet. A lucky break was given to Watson as a certaib wide was not given against. The Delhi players continued to pick up easy singles and kept the score boead ticking. After seven overs Delhi were 59/1.
After the sixth over the Delhi team was 55/1.
Shane Watson sharing the attack with Munaf Patel is blasted for two smashing boundaries in the first two delieveries. Sehwag is in a murderous mood as he cheekily dispatches Watson for another boundary. Watson makes a brilliant comeback as he dismisses Sehwag and Delhi loose their first wicket. Shikhar Dhawan is the new batsman to join Gautan Gambhir. Ending the second over Delhi are 21/1.
In reply to Jaipurs meagre total the Delhi team is taking its time to settle down and a look at the pitch. Gautam Gambhir after bein quite for four balls hits two glorious boundaries of Munaf Patel, ending the first over 8/0.
The final over of the innings is bowled by Glenn McGrath and is greeted by an amazing shot which is clipped over the keeps the head for a boundary. mcgrath responds with a dot ball. A single is taken of the third and the fourth ball. The score moves on to 127/8. The final ball sums up the Jaipur innings as it was a dot ball at the Jaipur innings finished at 129/8 in 20 overs.
Daniel Vettori comes in to bowl the 19th over and starts up with a dot ball. But the next two balls are smashed for boundaries. Vettori ends the over on a high with a dot ball and a single. The score is 121/8 in 19 overs.
Shane Warne is bowled by Mahroof on the start of the 18th over and also ending the hopes of the Jaipur team. The new batsman Siddhart Trivedi is finding it difficult to connect withthe bowl. Finally a single is taken followed by a dot ball to end the 18h over 111/8.
Daniel Vettori comes in for the 17th over and pressure on the Jaipur batsman, giving away just two singles. Ending an over that gave away just 4 runs, as the score is 110/7.
Brett Geeves is bowling the 16th over as the Jaipur team is struggling at 96/7. Glenn McGrath slopiness in the field brings the 100 up for the Jaipur team. Shane warne smashes Geeves for a boundary as the Jaipur skipper brings some momentun in the innings. After 16 overs Jaipur is 106/7.
Rajat Bhatia clean bowls Mahesh Rawat on the first ball of the 13 th over and the Jipur team is reduced to 71/6. The new batsman Dinesh Salunkhe hits a boundary of his first bal and then takes a single. The 13th over ends with Jaipur 80/6.
Daniel Vettori is greeted with a huge six to be followed by a boundary by Ravinder Jadeja. The next ball is followed by a single. Vettori makes a good comeback with two dot balls and a single to finish the 12 over 71/5.
The runs have dried up for the Jaipur team and to add insult the wickets keep tumbling as the Kaif tries to be too cute and was caught at fine leg. Jaipur is slowly but steadily loosing its way. The score is 59/5 after 11 overs.
The Jaipur Team is under a lot of pressure from the Delhi team, both through fielding and bowling. The runs are coming at a snails pace. With the end of the tenth over the Jaipur team is 57/4.
Rajat Bhatia continues the to keep the pressure on the Jaipur batsman with another dot ball. Jaipur after loosing its top order is strugglng to get runs. Another dot ball by Rajat Bhatia is keeping the pressure, the ninth over ended with another single. The jaipur team is 52/3 after 9 overs.
Maharoof has come in to bowl the eighth over and still the Jaipur batsmen are having trouble in fidings the gaps. Farveez Maharoof has got an important breakthrough as he removed the experienced Darenn Lehman. The Jaipur team is struggling with 47/4.
The over ended with Jaipur stealing a single and are 48/4 after eight overs.
Youngster Rajat Bhatia came in to bowl the seventh over and immediately got the job done as Shane Watson is run out on the second bal. Thwe next was a dot ball as Kaif tries to smash it over cover. It has been a very productive over by Bhatia. The over ended with Kaif taking a single. The Jaipur team is 41/3 after seven overs.
Farveez Maharoof came in to bowl the seventh over, which has been quite economical as Jaipur team is 40/2 after 6 overs.
Watson then got into the act, swatting McGrath through mid-wicket for four. That seems the favourite zone for the batsmen in the IPL so far. Good over for Jaipur so far.
Geeves' second over began on a spoiled note, when his team-mate, Shikhar Dhawan conceded four overthrows and subsequently, flicked one past mid-wicket to the boundary. Eight runs off two balls for Jaipur. And then catastrophe struck Jaipur, as Yusuf Pathan, tried going for a run that was not there and then, Manhas threw the ball down to Geeves, who did the rest by taking the bails off. Jaipur, two down for 22. Kaif joined Shane Watson in the middle and got off the mark straight away, pulling Geeves through mid-wicket for a boundary. Australian all-rounder Shane Watson, then joined Yusuf Pathan and looked comfortable in thr first two balls he faced from McGrath. McGrath, with the wicket, finished the first maiden over of the IPL.
In the third over, Kohli tried to go against the line from one pitched on and around off from McGrath, but could get the desired result, as he managed to hole out to Manhas at short mid-wicket.
Tasmanian bowler, Brett Geeves hit the straps straight up, bowling the first ball on the spot. He kept it tight for the first four balls, but the last two were both cheeky and some good luck boundaries scored by Yusuf Pathan, ending the second over and the Jaipur team 17/0.
In the second game of the day, Jaipur won the toss and stuck to the tried and tested formula of batting first. Glenn McGrath opened the bowling for Delhi and he is right on the money as his first three balls are troubling the Jaipur opener Taruwar Kohli. The Jaipur team is off the mark with a wide from McGrath. The young U-19 opener is looking all at sea against the bowler. What a shot ! Kohli comes down the ground, strokes it inside-out over cover for a big six, into the crowds, that one !
