After successfully staging the Commonwealth Games, the Capital's focus is set to shift towards cricket.
Delhi, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, Jammu and Kashmir and Services will lock horns at the Palam Ground from today for the North Zone Syed Mushtaq Ali Twenty20 tournament.
Among the opening matches, hosts Delhi take on the Paras Dogra-led Himachal Pradesh. In the absence of big names like Virender Sehwag, Gautam Gambhir, Ishant Sharma, Ashish Nehra, Virat Kohli and Shikhar Dhawan, Delhi have a relatively young squad with Mithun Manhas at the helm.
With time, Himachal have built a reputation of being giant-killers, especially against Delhi.
In other first round matches, Haryana, led by India star Amit Mishra, take on Punjab while Jammu and Kashmir face the Services.
