Shubman Gill have been named as the ODI captain of the Indian team for the Australia tour with Shreyas Iyer his deputy. While Rohit Sharma loses his post, both him and Kohli are still a part of the side.
The squad for the T20I series against Australia has also been announced. Suryakumar Yadav has retained his captaincy in the shortest format of international cricket, while Shubman Gill continues as the vice-captain of the side.
Jasprit Bumrah is not a part of the ODI squad, while he will be featuring in the T20Is. The decision from BCCI is probably keeping in mind the fact that the T20 WC is the next big assignment for the side, while the ODI WC is still a couple of years away. Given the fact that the Bumrah turned up for the West Indies Test series, immediately after the Asia Cup the call from the selection committee seems fair and square.
