Livingstone to Pant - SIX

SIX! Rishabh Pant goes after Livingstone and deposits into the stands. One-handed brilliance from the young man. Marches down the line and tonks it over long-off. What a Shot!

Mar 28, 2021, 15:28:13 IST

Lowest SR for KL Rahul in an innings

7 runs

18 balls faced

38.88 strike rate

Rahul goes

OUT! What a bonus for England. Liam Livingstone bowls a full toss on KL Rahul's pads. He sits down and hits it straight to the short fine fielder, who takes a good sharp catch. Adil Rashid it is. A real big moment in the game. Last match centurion Rahul goes for 7. India 157/4

Mar 28, 2021, 15:19:48 IST

This is a good contest

We would stick our neck out and say that this period of play can actually decide the outcome of this match and the series. Rishabh Pant is clearly looking to take risks and Moeen Ali and Adil Rashid are bowling. If it comes off then India could be well on their way to over 350 but it doesn't then England can really hurt India.

Mar 28, 2021, 15:14:48 IST

Pant attacks

FOUR! It's very difficult to bowl at Rishabh Pant. He hits at such unusual areas. This time, he picks the length up early, sits down and scoops it over the keeper's head to collect his second four of the over.

Mar 28, 2021, 15:13:41 IST

Outrageous from Pant

FOUR! What was that Pant? A pull, a swat, a standing helicopter? Call it whatever you want to. It was Pant written all over it. A shortish delivery from Rashid, Pant goes back and bends his body to play an audacious flick shot and it almost goes for a six.

Mar 28, 2021, 15:11:48 IST

Four singles off the 22nd over

Moeen Ali is bowling well. He is mixing his lengths and pace, not allowing the Indian batsmen to attack, not they would want to take any risk immediately. Four singled from the over. India 141/3

Mar 28, 2021, 15:09:23 IST

Pant goes big

SIX! The first one of the match and it comes from Rishabh Pant's bat. A flighted googly from Rashid, Pant picks it early and plays the slog sweep to good effect and it lands deep into the stands.

Mar 28, 2021, 15:05:29 IST

A tight over from Moeen

A good over from Moeen Ali, only two runs from it. India need a bit of a rebuilding after losing Rohit, Dhawan and Kohli in quick succession. But they have time on their hands, thanks to that very good opening partnership, India still scoring well over six runs per over.

Mar 28, 2021, 14:58:50 IST

Moeen Ali cleans up Virat Kohli

BOWLED! What a big wicket that is for England. Virat Kohli has to go for 7. Extra bit of turn on that one perhaps. Kohli wanted to make room by backing away but ended up getting cramped and the ball spun to hit the stumps. India 121/3 after a 103-run opening stand.

Mar 28, 2021, 14:53:56 IST

Shikhar Dhawan falls for 67

Caught and bowled! Shikhar Dhawan flicks it straight to Adil Rashid. A double strike for the leg-spinner. He has now dismissed both the Indian openers. It was once again a googly from Rashid, Dhawan wanted to play the flick shot but got a leading edge straight back to the bowler, who made no mistake. A good innings of 67 comes to an end.

Mar 28, 2021, 14:49:09 IST

3 runs from Moeen Ali's first over

Moeen Ali starts off well, gives only three singles in his first over. This is an important period of play. Moeen had given away only 47 runs in his 10 overs in the last ODI. It 'd be interesting to see if India once again allow the off-spinner to bowl quiet overs.

Mar 28, 2021, 14:44:28 IST

Kohli off the mark with a four

That's the way to go. A nothing delivery from Rashid, perhaps wanted bowl the quicker delivery but he dragged it short and Virat Kohli swatted it between the gap in the side to get off the mark with a boundary.

Mar 28, 2021, 14:42:55 IST

Rashid gets Rohit

BOWLED! Rohit Sharma failed to pick the googly from Adil Rashid and it sneaks through gap between his bat and pad to hit hit the stumps. A much-needed breakthrough for England, the century opening partnership has been broken. Rohit Sharma has to go for 37. India 103/1

Mar 28, 2021, 14:39:58 IST

England lose a review

It was pitched outside leg. A good delivery from Rashid. A googly which just deceived Dhawan and hit his front pads. Umpire Nitin Menon shook his head but Rashid convinced captain Buttler to go for the review. The replays showed, it had pitched outside leg.

Mar 28, 2021, 14:37:40 IST

100 up for India

A quick single to mid-off and that brings up a hundred partnership between Rohit Sharma and Shikhar Dhawan. 18th century stand between Rohit and Dhawan in ODIs.

Mar 28, 2021, 14:34:45 IST

Stokes to Dhawan: Four

It's all to easy at the moment for India. Another short one from Stokes and Dhawan, in this sort of mood, really needs no second invitation to cut past the point fielder and collect a boundary. England desperately need a wicket.

Mar 28, 2021, 14:31:25 IST

Shikhar Dhawan gets to fifty

Adil Rashid drops it short and Shikhar Dhawan gets on the backfoot quickly to pull it away for another boundary. This also brings up his fifty off just 44 balls. 32nd ODI fifty for Shikhar Dhawan. India 92/0 after 13 overs.

Mar 28, 2021, 14:27:48 IST

Cut away for four

Short and wide from Stokes and that is just way to easy for Rohit. He just cuts it behind point for a four. India 84/0 after 12 overs. By far their best start in the series.

Mar 28, 2021, 14:22:25 IST

A lucky boundary for Rohit

Extra effort from Wood on that one, got a bit of bounce. It just caught the shoulder of Rohit Sharma's bat and raced away through the vacant slip cordon. No chance for the third man fielder. Another great over for India, 11 runs from it.

Mar 28, 2021, 14:20:13 IST

Dhawan continues to hit fours

Brilliant use of the crease from Shikhar Dhawan. Nothing wrong with that one from Wood, perhaps a tad short. Dhawan walks across and swats it through the on side for yet another boundary. The left-hander is nearing his fifty.

Mar 28, 2021, 14:17:25 IST

End of the powerplay

Rohit Sharma and Shikhar Dhawan have given India the perfect start. They took four runs off Ben Stokes' first over to end the powerplay. India 65 for no loss after 10 overs. They would be very happy after being sent in to bat first.

Mar 28, 2021, 14:12:54 IST

Good effort by Livingstone but another good over for India

A despairing dive from Liam Livingstone at the deep mid-wicket boundary to stop the ball from going over the ropes. He has saved two runs for side. But India once again 8 runs from the Wood over. They are 61 for no loss after 9.

Mar 28, 2021, 14:09:03 IST

Wood to Dhawan: FOUR

That was crunched through the off side from Dhawan. The extra pace from Wood allowing Dhawan to get the perfect timing on that one and once Dhawan gets in on the middle, there's hardly any chance for the fielders to get around. India are motoring along.

Mar 28, 2021, 14:06:32 IST

Fifty up for India

FOUR! Flicked beautifully through the on side by Rohit Sharma and no chance for the deep square-leg fielder. The ball races away to the fence. Four boundaries and a single in this over, 17 runs off it. India 53/0 after 8 overs.

Mar 28, 2021, 14:05:00 IST

Dhawan in top gear

FOUR, FOUR! Shikhar Dhawan is top form today. No margin for error there for Topley. Third boundary of the over. One through the on side and the next one a booming drive through covers. India 48/0 after 7.4 overs.

Mar 28, 2021, 14:03:27 IST

Uppish shot from Dhawan

FOUR! Dhawan is taking his chances and so far it is coming off. A fuller delivery from Topley and Dhawan, whose weight was on the backfoot, decided to take aerial rout. It was just over the short cover fielder and once it crossed the inner ring there was no stopping that one.

Mar 28, 2021, 14:02:16 IST

Wood starts with a maiden

Immediately the difference. Better lengths, better lines and obviously all balls over 140 kmph. Mark Wood bowls a very good first over, first maiden after a positive start from the Indian openers.

Mar 28, 2021, 13:58:09 IST

Mark Wood comes into the attack

A change of bowling for England. A forced change one would have to say after Sam Curran was taken for 15 runs in his previous over. So it will be Mark Wood now.

Mar 28, 2021, 13:53:38 IST

Another short one, another four

Poor delivery again from Topley. Too short, too wide and Dhawan takes full advantage of it but punching it through the cover point region to collect another boundary. This is by far India's best start in the ODI series.

Mar 28, 2021, 13:51:50 IST

Dhawan joins the party

FOUR! It did appear to be close to Dawid Malan's fingers but it wasn't. It was way over his reach. A short and wide one from Curran and Dhawan did well to tap it over the in-field. A very good over for India, 15 runs from it. India 31/0 after 5 overs.

Mar 28, 2021, 13:48:49 IST

Up and over from Rohit

FOUR! Pitched up from Curran and no half measures from Rohit. He decides to go over mid-off and succeeds. The next one was on the pads from Curran and he just flicked it through the on-side... Back-to-back boundaries for India and Rohit.

Mar 28, 2021, 13:46:58 IST

First boundary for Dhawan

FOUR! Poor delivery from Topley. It was on the pads and all Dhawan had to do was get a little bat on it to guide it fine towards the fine-leg boundary and collect his first four of 3rd ODI. India 16/0 after 4 overs.

Mar 28, 2021, 13:43:41 IST

Good over from Sam Curran

Both Rohit Sharma and Shikhar Dhawan used their feet to Sam Curran in this over but the England left-arm seamer was up to the mark. He bowled to Rohit's body, not allowing room and to Dhawan, he banged it in short. India 11/0 after 3 overs.

Mar 28, 2021, 13:38:05 IST

Rohit hits the first four of 3rd ODI

FOUR! What a shot that was from Rohit Sharma. Slightly overpitched from Reece Topley, Rohit plants his frontfoot forward and just stokes it through the gap between mid-off and cover. There was no stopping that one.

Mar 28, 2021, 13:34:42 IST

India 5/0 after the first over

Much more urgency in the way both Rohit Sharma and Shikhar Dhawan have started their innings today. They clearly don't want England new ball bowlers to dictate terms. At the of the first over, India are 5/0.

Mar 28, 2021, 13:32:19 IST

Shikhar Dhawan is away

A gentle half volley on the pads and Shikhar Dhawan just tucks it to fine leg to pick up an easy single so both the Indian openers are off the mark in their first balls.

Mar 28, 2021, 13:31:18 IST

Rohit off the mark

It could've been close had Jonny Bairstow hit the stumps but thankfully for India, he didn't which means Rohit Sharma is off the mark in the first delivery of the 3rd ODI.

Mar 28, 2021, 13:29:47 IST

All set for first ball

Rohit Sharma is set to take on the first ball and it will be Sam Curran for England with the new ball. It's a big game and both teams will be looking to start on the right note. Here we go...

Mar 28, 2021, 13:25:10 IST

Rohit Sharma and Shikhar Dhawan need to be positive

Can't be critical of India's batmen after two 300-plus totals, can we? Umm... Guess we can. India have to come out of the notion that 300 is a safe total in ODIs, it longer is, especially against a side like England. The onus will be Rohit Sharma and Shikhar Dhawan to not only see off the new ball but also ensure the start is not too slow for India's comfort.

Desperate to win decider, says Jos Buttler

Very proud of the performance the other day, and it showed our passion. It's important to continue playing the brand of cricket that we are known for. It's been a fantastic tour with some great matches, and it's come down to the last game of the tour that decides the result. We're desperate to win today's decider: England captain Jos Buttler at the toss.

Mar 28, 2021, 13:18:13 IST

Toss out of control, says Kohli

It seems like the toss is completely out of my control right now. It's a hard pitch and has some grass covering. We've introspected and identified a few areas that we need to improve on, put up 20-30 more runs with the bat and put up a better show with the ball. Our best cricket has come out when our backs have been against the wall - Test series, after being one down and the same in T20s, after being 1-2 down. We have to be at our best today to win the decider: Virat Kohli at toss.

T Natarajan replaces Kuldeep Yadav

India have made one change and quite on the expected lines. Kuldeep Yadav has been dropped but interestingly, it is not Yuzvendra Chahal who has replaced him but it is left-arm seamer T Natarajan. So India have gone in with only spin option in that of Krunal Pandya.

India vs England 3rd ODI live - Toss update

England win toss opt to bowl first against India in the series-deciding 3rd ODI in Pune.

Mar 28, 2021, 12:57:02 IST

Kuldeep Yadav is not playing

We hearing that Kuldeep Yadav is doing laps of the ground five minutes before toss, which can only mean one thing and that is he set to be dropped from the 3rd ODI. Yuzvendra Chahal is more or less certain to replace him. Will there be more changes for India, especially in the bowling department? Just a few minutes to go for the toss in Pune, stay tuned.

Records of opposite nature in front of India and England

England have not won an ODI series in India in more than three decades. This is their golden opportunity. As far as India are concerned, they lost their last two ODI series in New Zealand and Australia. If India don't manage to win this one they it will be a very rare hat-trick of losses in ODI series for India.

Mar 28, 2021, 12:50:15 IST

T Natarajan can be an option for India

T Natarajan has played only one T20I for India ever since the Australia tour. The left-arm seamer can just be the option India need to put a lid on the explosive England batsmen. Although it is difficult to drop both Prasidh Krishna and Shardul Thakur.
