Dhawan, who had missed the previous clash between these two table-toppers earlier in the tournament due to an elbow injury, carried on from where he had left at the Feroz Shah Kotla Stadium in New Delhi a few days ago. Dhawan had scored an unbeaten 92 to power SRH to a massive nine-wicket win over Delhi Daredevils in SRH’s previous game.

Opening the innings with Alex Hales, Dhawan saw off an impressive spell by Deepak Chahar and got going in the third over itself, when he smacked two fours off the CSK left-arm seamer David Willey.

Dhawan faced 38 balls and hit seven fours and two sixes to score his half-century, while putting up yet another strong 123-run with his captain Kane Williamson to bolster the side. These two batsmen had put up an unbeaten 176-run stand for the second wicket in SRH’s last match.

Dhawan brought up his fifty with a powerful hit for a six off Ravindra Jadeja in the 13th over of the innings after CSK won the toss and asked SRH to bat first.

This is the third half-century for the SRH opening batsman who had begun IPL 2018 tournament with a fine unbeaten 78 against Rajasthan Royals. After going through a lean patch wherein his highest score was 33 in seven matches, he found form against Delhi. He was dismissed by Bravo off a scoop, caught by Harbhajan at short fine-leg.
