LSG vs MI, IPL 2025 Highlights: Half-centuries from Mitchell Marsh, Aiden Markram and an all-round bowling display powered Lucknow Super Giants to a 12-run win vs Mumbai Indians in their IPL 2025 fixture, at the Ekana Cricket Stadium on Friday. Chasing a target of 204 runs, MI were restricted to 191/5 in 20 overs, as Rishabh Pant's bowlers kept things tight. With Rohit Sharma absent due to injury, MI sent Will Jacks and Ryan Rickelton to open the run-chase but the pair failed, departing for five and 10 runs respectively. Then Naman Dhir revived MI's run-chase and began to build a partnership with Suryakumar Yadav. But Dhir narrowly missed out on his fifty, falling for 46 off 24 balls to Digvesh Singh. Meanwhile, Suryakumar registered a half-century, smacking 67 off 43 balls, before losing his wicket to Avesh Khan in the 17th over. Impact Player Tilak Varma failed to do his job and retired before the final over, with Mitchell Santner arriving to support Pandya. With MI needing 22 in six balls, Pandya began with a six, but failed to replicate that in the other deliveries as his side reached 191/5 in 20 overs.

The match began with MI skipper Hardik winning the toss and opting to bowl. Meanwhile, he also revealed that Rohit is out injured, after receiving a blow during training. LSG got off the starting blocks early as Mitchell Marsh raced to a 27-ball fifty in powerplay, tormenting Trent Boult, Deepak Chahar and Ashwani Kumar with ease. But then Vignesh Puthur struck right after powerplay to remove Marsh for 60 off 31 balls. Then Hardik got his first wicket, removing Nicholas Pooran, followed by LSG skipper Rishabh Pant (2), who once again flopped. Ayush Badoni (30) built a late partnership with Markram, but fell to Ashwani in the 16th over. Hardik struck again to remove Markram in the 18th over. The LSG opener departed for 53 off 38 balls. Hardik completed his fifer in the final over of the first innings, removing David Miller (27) and Akash Deep (0) as LSG reached 203/8 in 20 overs.

Speaking after the defeat, Pandya, who was heartbroken, said, “Disappointing when you lose. If we had to be honest, in the field, 10-12 runs we gave too much. We fell short in the end. [On his bowling] Always enjoyed my bowling. I don't have many options but I read the wicket and use smarter options. I never go for wickets but try to make batters make mistakes. Today was one of those days. As a batting unit, we fell short. We win as a team, we lose as a team. I take full ownership. [Tilak retired out] We needed some hits, he was not getting those. In cricket some of those days come, when you try but they don't come. Just play good cricket, I like to keep it simple. Take better calls, be smart in bowling, take chances in batting. It is a long tournament, you get a couple of wins and get into the rhythm.”
