Ireland will not make their historic Test debut until Saturday at the earliest, after Day 1 of their match against Pakistan was washed out. Persistent rain in Malahide meant the historic first ball, scheduled to be bowled at 11:00 local time on Friday, had to be delayed. The umpires inspected the pitch throughout the course of the day but, with the weather failing to improve, opted to abandon day one following an assessment of the surface at 15:00.
