Dawood, whose daughter Mahrukh is married to Miandad's son Junaid, is alleged to have provided logistical support to last month's Mumbai terror attacks that killed 172 people.

In his column in the 'Sydney Morning Herald', Roebuck wrote that although Miandad has no role in the terror attack, his links with Dawood are bound to raise a few questions.

"Miandad's connection with Dawood goes back a long way. But Dawood has connections, albeit tenuous, with Pakistan cricket on more than one level, and in this climate of political intrigue and distrust, even a tenuous and innocent connection can be a problem. Specifically, he has close connections with Javed Miandad, once his country's greatest batsman and now among its most senior cricket officers," Roebuck wrote.
