'We have thoroughly enjoyed it as a playing group': Pat Cummins thankful to locals in Pakistan for making tour a success

Pat Cummins said that the Australian players are thankful for the efforts that locals have put in to ensure that the historic Test series goes ahead.

Australia captain Pat Cummins said that the visitors are aware of the sacrifices made by the people of Pakistan to ensure that their historic tour gets underway. The Australian squad has been given presidential security and Cummins said that the players are aware of the ways in which their movements through cities would at times disrupt with the normal routine of the people.

"It is been a great tour, we have thoroughly enjoyed it as a playing group. We were really well looked after in Islamabad and it's the same in Karachi. The hotel is good and the food has been amazing," Cummins told reporters.

"Every time we leave the hotel to go to the ground, I think it hits home how lucky we are to be you know so well looked after all the locals... they literally stop what they are doing to get us to go to the stadium which doesn't get unnoticed," he added.

"We are really thankful for the lengths that everyone's gone to make this Test series happen," he maintained.

The tour marks the first time that Australia are playing in Pakistan in 24 years. However, it started on a disappointing note with the first Test being played over a pitch in Rawalpindi that was eventually rated below average by the International Cricket Council. Only three innings could be played as the match petered out to a draw over five days, with Pakistan not losing any wickets in their second innings and scoring 252 runs.
