PCB seeks explanation from Miandad and Faisal
The PCB has sought explanations from former Test captain Javed Miandad and his nephew Faisal Iqbal for criticising the selectors and the board after the latter was ignored from the 17-man Pakistan Test squad for the tour of England.
Faisal confirmed that he had got a letter from PCB, asking him to explain his statements in the media after he was dropped from the England-bound squad.
"I have got the letter and I have also dispatched my answer. I am well aware of the code of conduct for contracted players and that I have not violated any clause," Faisal said.
Miandad, who is also the director-general of cricket in PCB, lashed out at the board and the selectors after they ignored former captain Younis Khan and Faisal for the series.
Miandad also said he would meet with the chief patron of PCB President Asif Zardari to apprise him off the situation in the board.
Sources said that the board, in its letters, had asked Miandad and Faisal to explain the reason behind their outburst which violated the PCB code of conduct.
"Miandad has been reminded that he is a signatory to the service rules and conduct for employees and disciplinary action can be taken against him," one source said.
"Similarly, Faisal has been told his central contract can be terminated for speaking out against the selectors and board in the media," the source added.
The source in the board said that PCB Chairman Ejaz Butt had specially called up from Sri Lanka and told chief operating officer Wasim Bari to seek an explanation from the duo.
"Butt is not happy with the statements of both Miandad and Faisal," he stated.
