A prominent under-achiever of Indian cricket, the left-hander from Mumbai said frequent dropping eroded his morale and what was even more baffling is the fact that he was never told why he was getting axed.

"I did reasonably well after my debut but was dropped before the Australia tour. I did return for the World Cup but was again dropped. It continued and I was never sure of my place in the side and that affected my confidence," Kambli told CNN-IBN channel.

"None of the selectors told me what was wrong with me. If there was anything wrong, like I had problems against short-pitch balls, I could have worked on and bettered myself.

But I was never told why I was getting dropped and it happens even today," said the former cricketer who became part-time actor after quitting the game.
