Naresh Gangwar, a native of Bareilly in Uttar Pradesh who lives in Haldwani, has filed a police complaint against Sahu alleging that he (Sahu) got his kidney removed and transplanted fraudulently on his first wife, Vaijanti Mala.

More than a month after Gangwar filed the complaint, the Haldwani police have now summoned the accused for questioning. The police denied there was any political pressure in the case.

Nanital senior superintendent of police (SSP) Janmejay Khanduri has set up an inquiry into the case that is being conducted by Haldwai Kotwali inspector KR Pandey.

Pandey said he has recorded the statement of Gangwar, who has alleged that Sahu had taken him to Sri Lanka in June 2015 on the pretext of donating blood to his ailing wife, Vaijanti Mala. After the alleged blood transfusion, Gangwar woke up in pain to find that he had been operated upon and his kidney had been removed. When he confronted Sahu on the matter, Sahu allegedly promised to give him money and house, but did not fulfil his promise.

BJP state general secretary Gajraj Singh Bisht said that the party was not exerting any pressure for saving Sahu. “The law will take its own course and the guilty will not be spared,” he said.
