Man from Champawat found murdered in Haryana

Gurugram police, according to Rajguru, said perpetrators probably asked his ATM pin number after which they strangled him to death with a muffler and threw the body.

A 28-year-old man hailing from Champawat district was found murdered in Haryana’s Gurugram after he boarded a taxi for Haridwar, Uttarakhand Police said on Sunday.

Sunil Kumar Bhatt, a resident of Reetha sahib in the district, was working Dentsu company, they said.

He haired a taxi for Haridwar on Thursday night as he could not get a bus. After boarding the taxi, Bhatt had called his wife in Champawat saying he was leaving for Haridwar.

His body was recovered from Gurugram on Saturday, a police officer said.

Champawat district police chief Ramchandra Rajguru said they were in touch with their Gurugram counterpart.

Gurugram police, according to Rajguru, said perpetrators probably asked his ATM pin number after which they strangled him to death with a muffler and threw the body.

Money from his bank account was has been withdrawn from five ATMs at different locations, he said.

“We were informed about the matter by Gurugram Police after which we informed Bhatt’s relatives who went to Delhi to identify the body,” Rajguru said.

Bhatt, who has a two-month-old daughter, was the lone earning member of his family. His two younger brothers are studying in class 12 and 10.
