SIT is probing the 300 crore NH-74 scam since March after it came to the light. Compensations in crores of rupees were given to farmers for agricultural land, acquired for NH 74 expansion in Udham Singh Nagar, at commercial rates.

It is alleged that some revenue officials changed the nature of land from agricultural to commercial and got shares from the compensations.

Senior superintendent of Police Sadanand Date said SIT has already submitted documents related to preliminary probe to ED officials, who visited Rudrapur last month.

“We will hand over copy of the charge sheet to directorate (ED) officials. Since, allegation of money laundering has already been established in SIT investigation, ED may probe into this case separately,” he said.

First arrest of a provincial civil services officer BS Fonia was made on November 6 and prime accused of the scam and former special land acquisition officer DP Singh surrendered on November 23. Another suspended SDM Anil Shukla was arrested in January.
