Class 11 boy shoots girl, himself with his father’s licensed weapon in Ghaziabad, both critical

They were going for tuitions at Vasundhara Sector 4 when the boy shot her after an altercation with his father’s licensed weapon around 7pm , police said.

A class 11 student allegedly shot and injured a class 10 girl before shooting at himself at Vasundhara in Ghaziabad on Wednesday evening. Both are in a critical condition.

They were going for tuitions at Vasundhara Sector 4 when the boy shot her after an altercation with his father’s licensed weapon around 7pm , police said.

The girl sustained two bullet injuries to her head, police said. The boy later shot at himself with the same weapon and left the spot. He was later found in an injured state nearby.

According to the police, both arrived on a scooty. The minors, aged around 17 years, are residents of Vasundhara. The boy studies in class 11 at a private school in Vasundhara. The girl, police said, is a class 10 student at a Geeta Colony school in east Delhi.

“According to initial investigation, the boy fired at the girl and she fell unconscious. He later fired at his head and left in an injured state. Later, police found him in an injured condition in the same locality. He was rushed to a hospital where both are stated to be critical. The girl has sustained more critical injuries to her head. Both knew each other,” said HN Singh, senior superintendent of police, Ghaziabad.

“The weapon is licensed in the name of the boy’s father and he has been called for questioning. In case the girl’s family does not lodge an FIR, the police will file an FIR in the case. The arms licence will be cancelled,” Singh said.

Police said the boy stole the gun from his father’s almirah. His father is a property dealer while the girl’s father is an engineer with a private firm.

Hearing the sound of bullets, locals came out and saw the girl in a pool of blood. She was rushed to a private hospital. Both were identified with the help of their identity cards in their bags.

“I came out of my shanty hearing the sound of bullets.The girl was injured in her head and she had fallen down. The boy was holding the weapon and asked me to come out of my shanty. I pleaded with folded hands that I have small children and requested him to leave us. He was bleeding from his head. He then left on his scooty and I called other locals,” said a woman who said she saw the boy at the crime scene.
