A 28-year-old Delhi Police constable was found dead after he was run over by a train in Palam on Monday afternoon. The man’s toddler son was also found sitting along the tracks next to the body. With no suicide note or eyewitness of the incident, the police are still investigating if it was an accidental or suicidal death.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (Railways) Parvez Ahmed said the call was received around 4.30 p.m. that a man was found dead and there was a child next to the body.
“ Investigations revealed the identity of the man as Nand Ram Meena, a constable posted with Sarojini Nagar police station. The child was identified as his son,” said Mr. Ahmed.
No suicide note or eyewitness who could recount the sequence was found at the spot or has come forward so far.
The cop had left home with his son on a motorcycle and the circumstances show that he parked the bike before coming under the train. Among other angles, the police are also probing if he had planned to kill the child too.
The case comes two days after a Delhi Police Assistant Sub Inspector was run over by a train in Sabzi Mandi area of North Delhi.
