A 40-year-old auto-rickshaw driver was killed after his vehicle rammed into a truck in south-east Delhi’s Nizamuddin Bridge early on Wednesday.

The victim Naresh Kumar died iron rods protruding from the truck his body, the police said.
The incident took place around 4.30am when the auto rickshaw reached Nizamuddin Bridge. The tail lights of the 14-wheel truck that was moving ahead of it, were not on, the police said.
Kumar could not see the protruding rods and they pierced through the auto-rickshaw and impaled him, killing him on the spot, police said.
A senior police officer said Kumar was rushed to a local hospital, where he was declared brought dead. At the time of the accident, he was headed to Noida with some passengers who also suffered minor injuries.
“The truck driver has been arrested. A case has been registered at Sunlight Colony police station in south east Delhi. Further investigation is underway,” said the officer.
