Bumper-to-bumper traffic was reported from India Gate’s C-Hexagon after a part of the road caved in affecting vehicular movement. The police imposed traffic restrictions, which resulted in a ripple effect as other arterial roads like Tilak Marg and Ashoka road too saw major jams.

Irritated over the situation, motorists took to Twitter to get the traffic jam cleared. “ @DelhiTrafficPol are you guys sleeping at work today? Massive traffic jams at and around India Gate,” wrote Pulkit.

The traffic police also alerted people using the same medium and wrote, “Traffic is heavy in the carriageway from C-Hexagon towards Akbar Road due to potholes near C-Hexagon.”

“I travel from Vaishali to Barakhamba station every day. While usually it takes 25 minutes, today the same metro ride took me 50 minutes,” said Devesh Tripathy, a daily commuter.

Another commuter said the metro waited at Yamuna Bank for over 15 minutes and even after that moved slowly.
