Kapil Mishra tries to gatecrash Kejriwal’s Janta Darbar, vows to storm in next time

Rebel AAP leader Kapil Mishra reached Arvind Kejriwal’s house to give him a resolution to ‘clean up’ AAP. He was also accompanied by mother of deceased AAP leader Santosh Koli.

Rebel AAP leader Kapil Mishra was not allowed to meet Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal when he arrived at the CM’s Janta Darbar on Friday. He and his supporters were stopped 150 metres before the CM’s residence by the police, after which they started protesting.

Mishra arrived at the CM’s residence at Flagstaff Road, Civil Lines, around 10.30am accompanied by supporters and a drum troupe. Addressing the media and his supporters, Mishra said the CM should read his own book Swaraj, hinting at the alleged ‘nepotism’ in the party.

“I had brought this book on Swaraj written by him. You have written it, might as well read it. The day you read it, you will quit the CM’s post in shame,” Mishra said.

“Chor ki sabse pehli pehchaan ye hai ki woh aankhein milane se darta hai (A thief is scared to make eye contact) Same with Kejriwal… With me, with Koli’s mother… with autowallahs of Delhi… with taxi drivers… residents who have come with complaints, he is scared to look into their eyes.”

Kalavati, the mother of Santosh Kohli, also accompanied Mishra. “I’ve come to demand CBI inquiry. Why is he not coming out?” she said.

Kohli, an AAP leader from Seemapuri, had passed away a month after an accident in June 2013. The party calls her a “martyr” who took on the ration mafia in the Capital.

The protesters, including Mishra, also climbed the barricades in their bid to reach the CM’s residence.

Earlier, the sacked Delhi minister had claimed he would start round two of the India Against Corruption (IAC) movement and sought to begin the campaign by demanding resignation of chief minister Arvind Kejriwal and health minister Satyendar Jain.

“I will not rest until I send Kejriwal to Tihar. I am making all the evidence against Kejriwal public through this website,” Mishra had said.

He along with his supporters passed a seven-point resolution and announced the launch of ‘India Against Corruption-2’. Mishra and Kejriwal had first collaborated under the India Against Corruption movement which began in 2011.

The resolution now mooted by Mishra includes a ‘Right to Recall’ hearing against Arvind Kejriwal in his New Delhi constituency and health minister Satyendar Jain.

Mishra is also demanding a special session of the Delhi Assembly at the Ram Lila Maidan to discuss corruption charges against Kejriwal and Jain and resignation of the two. Mishra claims that they don’t have the “moral right” to continue after corruption charges emerged against them.

“Today we came with a handful of people. Next time we will come with more people. We will be back,” the former Delhi water minister said.
