BSP Deoria district unit president Nathuni Prasad said Bharati was expelled on the directive of the party high command for making an indecent comment against the Brahmin community on the social networking site.

Bharati’s alleged comment against Brahmins angered locals in the area. The BSP supporters demanded strict action against the member who was trying to‘ flare up caste tensions’. His activities were also against the ideology of party as BSP chief Mayawati had called for social harmony, Prasad said.

For his part, Bharati termed himself a loyal soldier of the BSP. He said, “I did not make an objectionable post on Facebook. Rather, my account was hacked and I have lodged a complaint at the Deoria Kotwali police station.”
