Delhi Congress chief Ajay Maken launched a helpline number (9891620771) through which patients can seek advice from doctors. If required, a party worker will be sent to the residence of someone who needs immediate medical attention.

A team comprising two doctors and some volunteers would be monitoring requests coming through text messages or Whatsapp messages on the helpline number from 8am to 9pm. The team will be headed by former Delhi Medical Association’s president Prem Agarwal.

Briefing about the facility started at Delhi Congress office at Deen Dayal Upadhyay Marg, Maken said people can send their details including address with nature of medical emergency to the helpline number and they will be immediately attended to.

“Proper medical consultation will be provided and serious cases would be referred to the party’s district or block presidents. They would personally visit the patient and provide all possible assistance,” said the Congress leader.

BJP SLAMS DELHI WATER MINISTER

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Wednesday slammed Delhi water minister Kapil Mishra for asking all MPs and MCDs to join hands with the government to fight the chigungunya outbreak.

Delhi BJP president Satish Upadhyay said that the AAP government should not play politics around deteriorating health condition of Delhi.

“Mishra’s idea is just an image building exercise. Instead of going to meet MPs, they should start work on the ground,” said Upadhyay.

Upadhyay also said that a task force— which is formed by the government every year to fight vector-borne diseases — was missing this year. So, it was a disaster waiting to happen.

“The beds in various hospitals were not increased. The mohalla clinics too have proved to be of no use,” said Upadhyay.

The party has formed a committee under national secretary RP Singh that will ensure that fogging is conducting in areas under the three civic bodies.
