At least 17 prisoners were injured in a brawl in Delhi’s Rohini jail on Wednesday evening. The injured, who belonged to two groups, were rushed to a nearby hospital where they were given first-aid.

DG Tihar Sudhir Yadav said that the prisoners started the fight when they were asked to go inside their cells. “There was no clash between two groups. They have self-inflicted injuries. We are looking into the incident.”
Delhi Police said jail authorities informed them about the clash outside ward number 2 around 11 pm. .
“We have not registered a case so far and are awaiting a report from Tihar authorities. Prima facie, the fight broke out between two groups after one of them refused to get inside the cell first. They all sustained superficial injuries,” said DCP(outer) Vikramjit Singh. Police sources said they are probing if the clash broke out because of their fight for supremacy inside the prison.
