On Friday, a Delhi court handed down the same sentence to Asha's parents Suraj and Maya, uncle Om Prakash, aunt Khusboo and brother Sanjeev. They were convicted on Monday.

Calling it a "rarest of rare" case, additional sessions judge Ramesh Kumar said, "The savage nature of the crime has shocked the judicial conscience. The deceased had done nothing to provoke the convicts. They were inhumanly electrocuted."

Yogesh, 20, and Asha, 19, were neighbours in northeast Delhi's Gokulpuri.

In June 2010, Yogesh and a relative went to Om Prakash' home and were manhandled over his SC status. The relative got away. But Yogesh never returned home.

The next morning, the couple's bodies were found in the house. They'd been tied up, beaten with metal pipes and electrocuted.
