This was announced by All India Motor Transport Congress(AIMTC) president G R Shanmugappa at a press conference here after a meeting of the organisation's Managing Committee here.

The Southern Indian Motor Transport Association(SIMTA) has already announced that it will go on an indefinite strike in southern states from August 1.

"We will join the agitation if no action is taken," Shanmugappa said and alleged South India is suffering more than any other part of the country as there the toll is very high and is levied on every highway.

He also demanded abolition of anti-dumping duty on import of tyres.

AIMTC members will again meet on July 26 to review the action taken by the government, he added.
