Criticising the hike, Delhi Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) leaders termed the decision anti-people and said the should be rolled back immediately.
“We will not let the government have its way. The hike affects the budget of the common man. We will protest against this on the first day of Assembly’s monsoon session on August 29 with a huge dharna at the Vidhan Sabha,” Vijender Gupta, BJP president, Delhi said.
BJP leaders said DERC was hand-in-glove with the Delhi government and hiked the tariff with the government’s consent. “Despite all three power distribution companies earning huge profits they still insist on increasing the tariff. The accounts of all three companies should be audited by the CAG in the interest of people of Delhi,” Gupta said.
