Case of abetment to suicide registered against CBI employee

A case was registered against an accounts officer of CBI for abetment to suicide, police said on Saturday. 35-year-old Sarita, who was an upper divisional clerk in the accounts section of the CBI, committed suicide at her residence in Harinagar in west Delhi on Wednesday.

"We have registered a case against Bhuvanesh Prakash Sharma, who is a joint accounts officer at CBI headquarters, under Section 306 of IPC on the basis of a suicide note left by the deceased," a police officer said.

Police said a suicide note was recovered from Sarita's room, which reads that she took the extreme step as Sharma, with whom she had an (extra-marital) affair, refused to marry her even as he had made promises in this regard.

Sarita also claimed in the note that Sharma had taken some hefty amount from her but did not return it, the officer said.

"Any further action will be taken against Sharma in connection with the case only after completion of preliminary inquiry," he said, adding the suicide note would be sent for verification.

He said preliminary investigations revealed that Sharma, who lives in Krishna Nagar of east Delhi, is married and has two children, while Sarita also had two children and was staying at her in-laws house.

Her husband Kishore Kumar, who is an engineer, stays in Russia and visits occasionally.
