The CBI on Thursday opposed the bail plea of former CWG Organising Committee (OC) chairman and Suresh Kalmadi's close aide Shekhar M Deorukhkar, stating he was the conduit who accepted bribes for OC officials in CWG scam.

The agency also said that as an influential person, he can tamper with evidence if he is given the relief. In a reply filed before Special CBI Judge OP Saini, it said the probe had so far had established Deorukhkar's complicity in the crime.
"Though Deorukhkar was not named an accused in the FIR, investigation clearly establishes his complicity in the crime," the CBI said. The court listed the bail matter for arguments for tomorrow. Deorukhkar is the fifth person to be held in the scam in which nearly R600 crore worth contracts relating to the Games' overlays projects.
