Cheating case against Cong candidate in Delhi
Delhi Police have registered an FIR against Narender Kumar Jain, Congress candidate from Krishna Nagar Assembly Constituency.
Delhi Police have registered an FIR against Narender Kumar Jain, Congress candidate from Krishna Nagar Assembly Constituency in Delhi on the charges of having cheated an advocate in the name of chit fund.
Advocate Sugriva Dubey, who had filed a petition in the Delhi High Court seeking direction to the police to register a case against Jain, on Friday informed Justice O P Dwivedi that a case under Section 420 of IPC (cheating) has already been registered against the accused at PS Anand Vihar.
Justice Dwivedi, who had on November 20 issued notices to city Police Commissioner, Economic Offences Wing DCP and SHO of PS Anand Vihar, dismissed Dubey's petition as infructuous in view of the fact that police registered a case against Jain on November 21.
Dubey had accused Jain of having made a misrepresentation that he was running a chit fund and that all those depositing money with him would be getting good returns.
The petitioner claimed that he deposited money (Rs 3,000 a month) with Jain continuously for five years and when he demanded back Rs 4 lakh on maturity, he was denied the same.
Claiming that over 100 people of the locality have been cheated by Jain in this fashion, Dubey had alleged that police did not register a case in the matter as he was an influential Congressman.
